Job Description • Develop IT strategy in support of the Newspaper’s mission and core objectives. • Manage information technology, Connectivity, Work Flow and computer systems at Head Office, Branches, Alexandria Office and Print House Site. • Ensure technology is accessible and equipped with hardware and software. • Monitor and maintain technology to ensure maximum access. Manage, control and motivate the staff of the Information Technology department. • Responsible for researching and evaluating new technologies. • Selects and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion. • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees. • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques. • Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained. • Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained. • Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work. • Directs the activities of subordinate analysts in the development of new information technology systems and enhancement to existing automated systems. • Serves as liaison between the data center and users concerning requests, usage, standards, and other developmental and production matters. • To maintain and provide technical support for the website. • To ensure maximum availability of computer systems throughout the organization. • Responsible for the provision of IT infrastructure services including –but not limited to-desktop applications, mailing system, service applications, Local and / or Wide area networks, IT security and telecommunications. • Implementation of new systems. • Responsible for IT hardware, software and maintenance procurement. • To manage the IT services including staff, disciplining, & communication with service providers. • To develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan. • To develop and control the IT security policy. • work out current and future IT needs by consulting with people at all levels about the current work systems and deciding how improvements could be made • analyse the information needs of an organisation and develop technological solutions to satisfy those needs • prepare or direct IT policy and plan strategy development • direct activities to select and install major IT facilities • oversee the provision of training for users and clients • direct the integration of IT operations, computer hardware, operating systems, communications, software applications and data processing • work out priorities for systems developments, maintenance and operations • control the security aspects of IT systems • provide advice to other senior managers and boards on IT issues and planning
